Arnold is a registered professional engineer and has been involved in San Antonio land development for over 12 years. Prior to working at Yantis Company, Arnold was a design engineer for Pape-Dawson Engineers and was the Vice President of Land Development for Pulte Homes. At Pulte, Arnold directly managed over $40 million dollars of infrastructure work at Alamo Ranch Hill Country Village. At Yantis Company, Arnold has been involved in various projects including the San Antonio International Airport Runway 3-21 Extension, Jones Maltsberger, as well as numerous subdivision and commercial projects throughout San Antonio. Arnold, as part of the preconstruction process, also handles value engineering requests from developers and civil engineering firms. Arnold has offered construction savings between 15 and 30 percent on many different projects. Arnold graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in civil engineering. Matt Yantis President Matthew Yantis serves as President of Yantis Company, overseeing the purchasing, equipment, trucking and information technology departments. Matthew’s team handles over $40 million dollars per year in jobsite and equipment purchases. Matt managed the implementation of Yantis Company’s rock milling/trenching division, trucking division, curb division, asphalt paving division and a total overhaul of the IT structure and purchasing process. Recently, Matt managed the purchasing and coordination of over $7.5 million dollars of materials and trucking on the 1 million square foot Dollar General Distribution. That project has been widely recognized as the largest cement stabilization project ever constructed in San Antonio. Prior to serving as company President, Matt was a Project Manager and Vice President in the Operations department. While in Operations, Matt managed many successful projects for major Fortune 500 clients such as Pulte Group, KB Home and Tesoro. Project sizes ranged from $500,000 all the way up to $15 million. Mike Yantis, Jr. CEO Mike Yantis, Jr. as CEO of Yantis Company is responsible for the day to day operations and strategic direction of the firm. In his fifteen years of experience, Mike has helped or directly administered over $900 million dollars of infrastructure projects spread across nearly 700 different jobs. These projects total over 30,000 developed lots, countless miles of new roadways and utility lines, and major drainage projects across Central and South Texas. Mike was the Vice President of Operations for the firm from 2002-2007. During this time, Mike grew Yantis Company’s revenue from $30 million per year to over $110 million per year and the company added over 400 employees. Some of the more notable projects Mike has been involved with include Alamo Ranch, The Shops at La Cantera, and the Westover Hills Development. On the initial Alamo Ranch phase, Mike was responsible for the negotiation of over $20 million dollars of infrastructure work with Pulte Homes and managed a team that built the project 3 months ahead of the projected schedule. Since 2006 Yantis has also bid or negotiated an additional $60 million dollars in contracts at Alamo Ranch for various developers. Also during his tenure at Yantis Company, Mike has helped recruit and manage the relationship of clients such as Pulte Group, Bitterblue/Denton Communities, KB Home, and Galo Properties among many others. Mike specializes in putting together unique deals that help make projects more feasible for private developers. His development experience includes land banking Silver Canyon for Pulte Group, the entitlement and sale of property for a charter school, and the entitlement and sale of a property for student housing at UTSA. From 2007-2012 Mike was responsible for the purchase, construction, leasing to Frost Insurance and ultimate sale of the John Yantis Center which is a 34,000 square foot Class A office space. Mike holds a BBA from Texas A&M University and continues to be a strong supporter of Texas A&M as a former student. Mike is active in the San Antonio community through various charities and other organizations. In 2015 Mike served as the Chairman for the Valero Alamo Bowl which was a record setting game between TCU and Oregon, but more importantly provided over $450,000 in scholarships to Bexar County high school students. Mike Yantis Chairman Mike Yantis brings over thirty years of construction and development experience to the Yantis Company management team. Mike serves as Chairman of the organization. Mike primarily concentrates his efforts on the review of Yantis pricing proposals, business development, special consulting on construction issues, and value engineering as well as strategic planning for the firm. Mike is proud to have been a partner with his father, John Yantis, starting in the early 1980’s. Mike quickly assumed much of the management responsibility for Yantis operational and estimating functions. Under Mike’s leadership, Yantis built many of the relationships and processes that the company still utilizes. The company also grew over 300% from 1982 to 2003. Yantis has successfully completed over $1 billion dollars of infrastructure projects spread across many hundreds of individual jobs under Mike’s direct management or oversight. Mike was directly involved in some of the interesting and hallmark projects in San Antonio including Deerfield Subdivision, Loop 1604 main lane bridges at Lockhill Selma, and the Fiesta Trails Retail Complex at DeZavala Road and IH-10. John Yantis Founder John Yantis, founder of Yantis Company, graduated from Texas A&M in 1953. After serving in the United States Military John went on to work for HB Zachry Company and later became an equipment salesperson. In 1965, at the young age of 33, John decided to found John Yantis Company. Together with his first equity partner, Norm Harwell, John turned $20,000 into what Yantis Company is today. John started Yantis Company with the idea that he would be a specialist in jobs that other people would consider difficult. His first project was a 36” sewer main that was over 16 feet deep in rock. John conducted firsthand the blasting and laying of this sewer. Despite the difficulty, John’s first project turned a substantial profit and allowed John Yantis Company to continue to grow. Over the years John has been heavily involved and honored for his business and civic activities around San Antonio. John managed Yantis Company alone from 1965 until the early 80’s when his son J. Mike Yantis joined the firm. Under John’s leadership the company grew from a utility firm to a full service turnkey civil contractor. Some of the notable projects John was involved with include: Central Park Mall, Ingram Park Mall, Loop 410, the New Braunfels Wal-Mart Distribution Center, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Matt Krenek Shop Manager Moises Valadez General Manager - Utility Division Mike Nedbalek General Superintendent- Dirt Division Joe Alvarez Senior Estimator Joe Alvarez has been with Yantis Company since 2006 in the Estimating Department. Promoted in September 2015 to Chief Estimator, Joe is responsible for the management of the Yantis Estimating team. Throughout his career, Joe has bid on many high profile projects including: Ladera Ranch, Luckey Ranch, Union Pacific Intermodal, Alamo Ranch and many others. In his career at Yantis Joe has turned in over $500 million dollars in bids. Mike Schaeffer VP of Field Operations/ General Superintendent Excavation/Asphalt/Concrete Divisions Mike Schaeffer as General Superintendent of the Excavation, Asphalt, and Concrete divisions is responsible for the management of all Yantis Company personnel in the divisions and also manages the majority of Yantis Company’s projects from start to finish. Mike started his career at Yantis as a foreman and was later named the Asphalt Superintendent. As Asphalt Superintendent, Mike was responsible for the final paving of multiple projects across San Antonio such as the Tesoro Headquarter, the Stone Ridge Retail Center, the Shops at LaCantera, and hundreds of other projects across San Antonio and Central Texas. Yantis Company became known for its commitment to asphalt quality. Mike was named General Superintendent of the excavation and concrete divisions in March of 2012. Mike manages the day to day activities of over 125 employees and 150 pieces of equipment. As General Superintendent, Mike has been responsible for record time completions of projects for clients such as DR Horton Homes, LGI Homes, KB Home, and Pulte Group. Paul Sparks, CPA Chief Financial Officer After 20 plus years as the external accountant and auditor for the Yantis Companies, Paul joined Yantis Company in 2005 as their Chief Financial Officer. Paul is responsible for financial reporting, management of the accounting department, and all accounting and tax functions of Yantis Company, its owners, and related entities. Paul manages a professional staff of 10 in the Accounting Department. Since coming on board full time, the accounting system has increased in size, complexity and sophistication. Paul has managed the implementation of a computerized invoice routing system and automated payroll and equipment usage reporting system. Paul has also worked closely with the IT team to customize Yantis Company’s accounting software to fit specific needs. Under Paul’s leadership, the department has greatly improved the internal controls of the company. Paul is a Certified Public Accountant and provides Yantis a broad background of accounting knowledge. Paul is well known as one of the leading professionals in San Antonio specializing in taxation for construction, real estate, and other related industries.
